Aristos Christou

Aristos is a Research Software Engineer at Cardiff University in the School of Engineering and his research interest is in wave-structures interactions. He graduated from the University of Cyprus with a BSc degree in mechanical engineering and then studied a Master’s degree in Maritime Engineering at the University of Southampton. He then moved to University College London where as a PhD student, he developed a Numerical Wave Tank based on Large Eddy Simulations to study the interaction of waves with offshore structures in deep and shallow water depths. Various boundary conditions are introduced to simulate wave-structure interactions employing the large eddy simulations method. The accuracy of the code has been examined by simulating previously conducted experiments of different wave conditions interacting with fixed structures such as monopiles, submerged steps and thin plates.
